Major Shaitan Singh was born on 1 December 1924 in the village Banasar, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He inherited his father Lieutenant Colonel, Hem Singhji's gallantry. His mother was Smt. Jawahar Kanwar. He served the Indian Army as a Major of the 13th Battalion of the Kumaon Regiment.
