Kandarpa
Kandarpa is a story retold from Somadeva's Kathasaritsagara, an eleventh century Sanskrit classic written in order to entertain his Queen. Two young men, Kesata and Kandarpa, marry Sumanas and Rupavati in strange circumstances and are parted from their wives in even stranger circumstances. The story now takes curious twists and turns, keeping the reader in delighted suspense, while the two young men in distress hunt for their lost partners. Destiny plays a very important role in Soma- deva's stories and, many a time, the protagonists are helped by supernatural powers in attaining their goals.
