Vaishno Devi
THE VAISHNO DEVI shrine is among the foremost holy spots in the country. Devotees from far and near visit it all the year round to offer their prayers and seek the blessings of the Goddess for the fulfilment of their wishes. This issue of Gaurav Gatha has two stories. The first is the story of a poor Brahmin named Shridhar who was a great devotee of Vaishno Devi. Pleased with his deep devotion, the Goddess one day visited his hut in the guise of a little girl. In the story you will read about how the Goddess performed a miracle in Shridhar's hut, punished Yogi Bhairav for his misbehaviour, and blessed the poor Brahmin.
The second story is about a childless old couple. Both husband and wife were so selfish that the children of the neighbourhood shunned their company. Once the Goddess appeared before the old woman in her dream and granted her a boon. What was the boon? The story will tell you.
