Godess Lakshmi
In Indian mythology, Lakshmi is the goddess of prosperity. When a person is growing rich, it is believed that he or she has been able to win Lakshmi's favours; while those in adversity are believed to be deserted by the benevol- ent goddess. Lakshmi is known to be the eternal wife of Lord Vishnu, who from time to time assumes a human form for the preservation of Dharma in the world. When Lord Vishnu appeared as Rama, Lakshmi was born as Sita. When he incarnated himself as Krishna, she appeared as Rukmani. Lakshmi was Vishnu's associate in all his incarnations. This issue of Gaurav Gatha contains three stories about Lakshmi and Lord story of a princess who refused to accept her father's claim that he was the source of all prosperity in his kingdom. She was exiled from her father's kingdom and forced to live like a poor girl. Lakshmi, however, came to her rescue.
